Our first draft of our project

Our project is under the title : "Cool-tur-izmo".

and subtitle : "cultural reporters".

Our action is under EVS program large scale. As we have seen the action has to be on a European level, and must have an innovative dimension.

Our project tasks will be :

1. defining criteria for selecting volunteers (has to be defined in Portugal).

2. Method for approaching and selecting volunteers. (especially if we are targeting youngsters with less opportunities we have to approach them. questions to be answered : where we can find them, how we are informing them, hw we are encouraging them to apply, how we will select them with common method).

3. Preparing selected volunteers (preparation training with participation of all stakeholders of the action. Key words-themes: Multicultural approach, passing language barriers, preparing them for the cultural chock - food, language, habits, conditions of living).

4. Their tasks during voluntary service. (We are suggesting volunteers will stay for 3 months. Their assignement will be to visit the cultural sites of the hosting region and developing detailed descriptions of them. They have to be prepared to take pictures with a simple digital camera, to use internet tools, to report on detailed descriptions). The reports will be provided on their native language and the hosting organization will translate them in the local language. All reporting will be presented on a common form and could be added to Wikipedia (www.wikipedia.com) or to other local or international web sites with cultural interest.

5. They have to participate in a common evaluation meeting by the end of the project to evaluate with partners the overall performance.


Now budgetary aspects of our proposal :

the costs directly linked with volunteers are not flexible. You must know that a volunteers is taking 140-160 euros per month (means 450-480 for three months). Also each organization is entitled for 300-350 euros per month for food and accomodation of the volunteer.

There are flat fees for administration costs. And we have costs for coordination.

What we have to clarify (because costs are linked with methodology) is how training will be formed (especially in preparation) and the how we will manage costs for selection.

travel costs are also an aspect that depends on how we are mobilizing volunteers between us.

In the next days we will fix a scenario of mobilization of volunteers and we will have an initial budget.
